Shinde Camp is a sophisticated tented camp nestled on a lush palm island on a private concession in the north eastern Okavango Delta. Overlooking the shimmering Shinde Lagoon, this is an area which teems with animals and birds attracted to the permanent waters. The game viewing is varied and interesting, as are the activities with both land and water activities available year-round. This is a luxurious tented camp, with a classic sophisticated style and friendly atmosphere.

Being set on a private concession allows greater flexibility on safari activities. Shinde Camp offers a diverse range of activities, and thanks to its fantastic location it can offer both water and land activities year round. Motorboats or mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Professional guides conduct game drives in comfortable, specially designed game drive vehicles. Importantly, with a maximum of 4 people per vehicle this is an exclusive safari experience (more people can be accommodated in the vehicles on request). For the more adventurous at Shinde Camp, guided walks are also available while fly fishing enthusiasts will enjoy fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish.

Shinde Camp maintains an authentic safari style in each of its spacious tented rooms without compromising on comfort at any point, with thoughtful touches throughout. The décor is elegant and always in keeping with the beautiful natural surroundings. The camp comprises of eight twin-bedded classic safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms. Accommodation is twin share on comfortable three-quarter beds; however, double accommodation is available on request. Each tent is strategically positioned to offer splendid views, whether across the Okavango Delta’s mysterious waterways or open grasslands. The camp’s unique central area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge, set under canvas amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees to complement the atmosphere of this original safari camp.

The private Shinde concession allows guided walks, Mokoro excursions and night drives in addition to game drives and motorboat trips. Situated on the permanent waters of the Okavango Delta allows Shinde year round water activities (including fly or spin fishing) alongside large dry areas for game drives. With both wet and dry habitat Shinde ensures a wide variety of wildlife is found in the area, including regular sightings of the rarely spotted Sitatunga antelope. Shinde Camp is currently being rebuilt and will reopen as a fresher even lovelier camp in June 2020.
