Itinerary

Day 1: Airport – Windhoek
Day 1: Airport – Windhoek

Meet Your Namibian Host and a short transfer to Windhoek which is about 42 kilometers, nestle in between the Eros Mountain to the north, Khomas Hochland to the west and Aus mountain to the South, which make the capital to be in a dugout Mountain and continue to our Lodge in between Aus Mountain. Sunset with a drink in hand is way to be welcome in Namibia and have some cocktails with few snacks at the Hotel.

Windhoek is the capital of Namibia, in the country’s central highlands. South of the city, the sprawling Heroes’ Acre war memorial commemorates Namibia’s 1990 independence. On a hilltop in the city center are the 1890s Alte Feste, a former military headquarters with historical exhibits, and Independence Memorial Museum. Colonial influences are visible in nearby buildings like the sandstone Lutheran Christus Church
The Kalahari Desert covers eastern and southern Namibia, large parts of Botswana and the north-western area of South Africa. It can't be defined as a real desert as it receives too much rain. It can rather be called a fossil desert. This area in Namibia is inhabited by the San people (Namibian bushmen), who used to be hunter-gatherers. In contrast to the high sand dunes in Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, the look of the Kalahari is characterized by little grass clumps and red dunes. They are not very high but long and have a sharp crest. Spot African wildlife like Black-maned Kalahari Lion, Oryx, Giraffe, Warthog or little Meerkat (Suricate) on game-drives or just enjoy the silence around you.

The canyon is dramatic in its simplicity with valleys and gulley slicing through its geological foundations laid almost 2 million years ago and is considered to be second in size to the Grand Canyon in North America.

Day 5 Lüderitz
Day 5 Lüderitz

The coastal town of Lüderitz was an area rich in diamonds and is located 815 km from Windhoek in Namibia. It began life as a trading post (1850s) with fishing and guano-harvesting but when diamonds were discovered in 1909 in nearby Kolmanskop, Lüderitz enjoyed a swift flood of prosperity. Today, diamonds are mostly found elsewhere and offshore, so the Lüderitz economy now centers on fishing and tourism. Its allure as a town lies in the fact that little has changed since the early 20th century.
Lüderitz is an eccentric Bavarian style village, built on the rocky, barren, and windswept coast of the southern Namib Desert. It still looks almost as it did at the beginning of the 20th century. Its colonial history as the birth of Germany’s first settlement in Southwest Africa is revealed by the many charming and elegant buildings such as Goerke House and Gelsenkirchen (1912) on top of Diamanteberg (Diamond Hill).

Once home to over 1 200 people, around 700 families, Kolmanskop story is one of incredible wealth, prosperity and sudden decline.
In just over 40 years, the town, complete with a ballroom, theatre, hospital, casino, school and bakery, was built, processed over 1 000 kilograms (2 204 pounds) of diamonds and was then deserted.
A visit to Kolmanskop provides an eerie understanding of how the desert slowly but surely reclaims all that is built in it. The sand creeps into every space, breaking down and absorbing bricks, metal and plaster, creeping across floors and through doorways, finding its way into every space as if it was liquid. The result is an incredible historical sight.
