Description

Okuti Camp is a delightful camp set alongside the Maunachira River which flows through Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world renowned Moremi Game Reserve, famous for the year round big game viewing. Okuti has a unique style, with 7 reed rooms set along the riverbank. Land and water activities are offered year-round, with morning and afternoon 4×4 game drives exploring this particularly pretty corner of the Moremi and boating along the peaceful waterways.

Okuti has a distinct style, drawing inspiration from the riverbanks and the traditional reed houses (‘Masasas’) the 7 rooms have been beautifully constructed as semi-circular reed lined rooms, all set on long the river with lovely views. Innovative, spacious and cooling all the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, shower and bath, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. An additional two family units consist of two rooms which share spacious bathroom facilities – ideal for families in this child-friendly lodge. Okuti Camp’s spacious curved ‘tents’ are set on raised teak decks, and each with a balcony with river views. Importantly, with only 4 people per vehicle this is a very exclusive safari experience (larger groups can still be accommodated in the vehicles if requested). Guests can also explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat, and the areas open lagoons and winding channels make it a birder’s paradise, complete with herons and storks in the breeding season.

Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, and its consistent year-round game viewing makes it ideal for the first-time visitors to Botswana. The environment is varied, with pans, floodplains, lagoons, grasslands, forests of acacia trees, savannahs and dense Mopane Woodlands. This unique ecosystem, characteristic of the Okavango Delta, allows for a diverse spectrum of wild life and coupled with effective protective measures results in huge herds antelope and plains game, and the predators who follow. The Moremi Game Reserve is home to over 400 of the Okavango’s species of birds making it a popular spot for birders too.
